This week we are bringing you our top three favourite summer time activities in Whistler and the area.
Top spot goes to biking! There is terrain here for every type of biking you could imagine! Coming with a family including little ones on run bikes or perhaps a hauling a Chariot? The Valley Trail is where you want to be. Cycle through Whistler and stop at all the parks and lakes along the way. Are you a mountain bike fanatic? Great! There are hundreds of trails for every ability. Fancy a long distance road ride? Highway 99 between Squamish and Pemberton is some of the most scenic road riding in the country! Whistler is a cycling mecca and we love to bike whenever we can!
A very close second place is golf! There are three championship courses in Whistler and two breathtakingly beautiful courses in Pemberton. There is nothing quite like sharing the fairway with one of Whistler’s ursine residents, looking out over picturesque green lake, or gazing up at epic Mount Currie in Pemberton while you chase the ball around. In third place, hiking! There are quite a few hiking trails in Whistler. Here are a few of our faves:
The Ascent Trails on Blackcomb Mountain. The Blackcomb Ascent Trails are three interconnected uphill hiking trails that meander through beautiful old growth coastal rain forest terrain from Whistler’s valley bottom to the Rendezvous Lodge on Blackcomb Mountain.
Wedgemount Lake. This hike is relentlessly steep and some might consider it grueling, but the reward at the top is incomparable. Wedgemount Lake is truly a sight to behold.
Sea to Sky Trail. This family friendly trail stretches from Squamish to D’arcy, with a 33 kilometer long section that passes through Whistler. Most of the trail is wide, very well maintained and quite relaxing.
